I’d probably sound like a right twonk…
…if I told you I’d been to a potentially life-changing networking event.
But if I told you that event was at the Yorkshire Air Ambulance base near Wakefield, you’d definitely take me seriously.

The Power by the Hour business membership fee goes directly to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity. And they do some absolutely incredible and totally essential work with that money.
The talks and tour at the airbase yesterday shared real-life stories of lives saved, taught us crucial CPR skills, showed us the stim room where the paramedics train, and walked us through the major decisions dispatchers make day after day.
We also happened to be there when the air ambulance itself returned from a job in Filey.
What a lovely bunch of business owners to be co-members with, too. Highly unlikely you’d donate your money and time to a life-saving charity if you weren’t a good egg, and the friendly people I met yesterday proved just that. Plus, I got to hang with pals Deborah Whitaker (who kindly suggested I join the group) and Mike Hall (who took one for the team with his impressive CPR demo).
If all that wasn’t enough, look, Mum, I got a certificate! Not had one of those since Swimming Dolphin Award 10 circa 1997.
Thank you to Helen Berriman and her lovely, welcoming colleagues. I feel really privileged to be amongst your first members, and you make cracking cupcakes 😊
