WHY I BECAME A (SEMI) TWONK AFTER #ATOMICON24
My brain and body (and liver) are in recovery after #ATOMICON24.
The biggest takeaway for me sounds like I’ve gone from insecure to showy twonk* in the space of three days.
Andrew Pickering and Pete Gartland spoke about courage giving you confidence. Just turning up to hang amongst the cool kids put fear in my passenger seat (thanks, Jen Gottlieb!)…then told my imposter syndrome to jog on.
According to Davina McCall (who was relatable and wonderful), the best way to measure your success by your happiness. In that case, I’m doing pretty freakin’ well. Going to shout about the stuff I do more often (and tackle that big domino sooner). Told you it’d make me sound super twonky.
That said, people who seemed to think I was alright include: ·
- New bods I had some proper lovely chats with, like Jane Imrie, Katie Spreadbury, Heather Hutchinson, Claire Thomas and Emma Taggart.
- LinkedIn pals I saw in the flesh for the first time, namely Jo Marshall, Alexa Whitten and Zoë Roddis (née Russell), who are as ace in person as they appear online.
- Faces I like a lot but see too rarely, such as the ever-lovely Natalie McMillan and JUDY Parsons (who’s bag I kindly stole…long story).
- And, most of all, Yasmin Yarwood, Joely 💛 Hodgson and Amy Russell FInstAM 💻📧. They were the BEST company. Their (constant) camaraderie, sound advice, and ability to make me laugh so hard I could barely stand made the whole shebang completely joyful. Despite the seagulls (FFS).
